Frequently Asked Questions

What are homecare referrals and how does it differ from home healthcare?

In its most true meaning, homecare refers to any type of care medical or non-medical, that is provided for the client in their home. In recent years, however, there has been a slight shift in terminology. While homecare can describe both non-medical and medical care, typically the term "homecare" refers to non-medical care such as companionship/housekeeping services and/or personal care services, while "home healthcare" refers to the provision of skilled nursing care and other care such as speech, physical or occupational therapy.  Caregivers Unlimited Agency is a domestic referral agency.  We don't provide the services but rather the referrals who provide the service.

What services does Caregivers Unlimited Agency provide?

Caregivers Unlimited Agency is a domestic referral agency, providing non-medical homecare referrals. We refer caregivers who provide a multitude of companionship services such as meal preparation, laundry, light housekeeping, grocery shopping/errands, incidental transportation, live-in service,  medication reminders, grooming and respite care. We also provide personal care services such as bathing, grooming, and hygiene, mobility assistance, transferring and positioning, toileting and incontinence and feeding/special diet assistance.

How much does in-home care cost?

Rates vary depending on the fee of the independent caregiver.  We provide hourly care or 24 hour live-in services. Caregiver in- home consultations are always free of charge.

What areas do you provide service?

We provide referral services to all of San Diego county (and we've been doing it since 1998).

How will I meet my caregiver?

After calling us, we can set up a free interview so you may meet a caregiver to ensure they are a good match.  The caregiver choice is in your hands.

Will I have the same caregiver all the time?

We always try to use the same caregiver!  This way you know who is coming out to your home and are able to build a relationship with your caregiver.  We believe it increases continuity of care and makes your homecare experience more enjoyable.  The schedule is ultimately up to you and the referred caregiver.  Should the caregiver not be able to work the schedule you request, simply call us and we will give you another referral who is able to accommodate your requests.

What if my caregiver is sick or on vacation?

If your caregiver is sick or on vacation, they are responsible for calling you and we take care of the rest.  We'll refer another caregiver until your regular caregiver returns.
